RGD DISEASE ONTOLOGY - ANNOTATIONS

RGD uses the Human Disease Ontology (DO, https://disease-ontology.org/) for disease curation across species. RGD automatically downloads each new release of the ontology on a monthly basis. Some additional terms which are required for RGD's curation purposes but are not currently covered in the official version of DO have been added. As corresponding terms are added to DO, these custom terms are retired and the DO terms substituted in existing annotations and subsequently used for curation.

Definition:Formation or presence of a blood clot (THROMBUS) in the CRANIAL SINUSES, large endothelium-lined venous channels situated within the SKULL. Intracranial sinuses, also called cranial venous sinuses, include the superior sagittal, cavernous, lateral, petrous sinuses, and many others. Cranial sinus thrombosis can lead to severe HEADACHE; SEIZURE; and other neurological defects.
Synonyms:exact_synonym: Cranial Sinus Thromboses;   Cranial Sinus Thrombosis;   Intracranial Sinus Thrombophlebitides;   Intracranial Sinus Thrombophlebitis;   Intracranial Sinus Thromboses;   Petrous Sinus Thrombophlebitides;   Petrous Sinus Thrombophlebitis;   Petrous Sinus Thromboses;   Petrous Sinus Thrombosis;   Sinus Thromboses;   Sinus Thrombosis;   Venous Sinus Thrombosis, Cranial
