Accession:GO:0019697 term browser browse the term
Definition:The chemical reactions and pathways resulting in the breakdown of L-xylitol to form xylulose 5-phosphate. L-xylitol is converted into L-xylulose, which is then phosphorylated to L-xylulose-5-phosphate. This is converted to D-xylulose-5-phosphate via the intermediate L-ribulose-5-phosphate.
Synonyms:exact_synonym: L-xylitol breakdown to xylulose 5-phosphate;   L-xylitol degradation to xylulose 5-phosphate
 broad_synonym: L-arabitol and xylitol degradation
 related_synonym: L-xylitol utilization
 xref: MetaCyc:LARABITOLUTIL-PWY
