A rare autosomal recessive metabolic disorder characterized by the progressive deposition of basic calcium phosphate crystals in periarticular spaces, soft tissues, and sometimes bone. The biochemical hallmark of tumoral calcinosis is hyperphosphatemia caused by increased renal absorption of phosphate.
